Introducing ‘First Avenue’ - a dynamic musical duo with Winnipeg entertainers

Jocelyn Dunstan (vocals, percussion) & Greg Dunstan (vocals, guitar)

Individually, they have extensive professional experience in the Western Canadian music scene. Together, as ‘First Avenue’ they offer engaging performances with an excellent selection of music complimented by their strong harmony vocals.

They are an interesting alternative for entertainment in Winnipeg – incorporating live vocals and instruments with recorded ‘backing tracks’ which result in a professional, vibrant and rich sounding performance. Their large repertoire allows them to cover a wide range of musical genres (Jazz, Latin, Pop, Country, Rock) enabling them to play in a variety of venues and settings. Performances can be tailored to meet your requirements.

Jocelyn Dunstan

A graduate of the Theatre program at the University of Manitoba, Jocelyn has many years of experience in the entertainment world – acting, directing, singing, choreography and costume design.  Her professional singing career is diverse. In the jazz community she has performed with such Winnipeg artists as Ron Paley, Larry Roy and Walle Larsson.  Along with having experience in the recording studio as a vocalist for radio jingles, she has been the lead singer of various rock and roll bands including *High Society *Spectrum and was a frequent guest performer with the Chris Bigford Band.

For six years Jocelyn was a lead singer and vocal arranger of Manitoba’s only female showband ‘4th Avenue’ – performing in numerous casinos, lounges and corporate events throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario. They guest performed with the * Ron Paley Big Band * Big Roll Band * Eli Herscovitch Band and on an ongoing basis with Manitoba’s tribute band Free Ride.  Currently she is lead singer of the musical duo ‘First Avenue’.

Greg Dunstan

Greg spent many years in the Western Canadian music scene.  Formerly based in Edmonton, he was the bass guitar player of the house band at VERACRUZ Records and was fortunate enough to record and tour with Jim Stafford * One Horse Blue * Ronnie Prophet * Pretty Rough * The Mart Kenny Big Band * Grace Under Pressure * Bob Moyer Big Band and The Platters along with recording numerous jingles and demo projects.  He also toured overseas for the Canadian Department of Defense Peacekeeping Forces in Europe and the Middle East.

Greg graduated from Grant McEwan College (Jazz Performance and Arranging), then in 1989 moved to Winnipeg and was the school Principal of the Professional Musicians College for 5 years. He has performed with such Winnipeg bands as * Border Street * Roxy * Amazing Rhythm Trio (Don Bouchat) * Big Roll Band * 4th Avenue *Leonard Shaw Trio * Spectrum and the Chris Bigford Band.  He currently performs with the Travis Barre Band and is part of the musical duo ‘First Avenue’.

An outstanding musician, musical arranger and harmony vocalist, Greg has been the Musical Director of Celebrations Dinner Theatre for the past 12 years, and has worked with Koba Theatre Entertainment (Paquin Entertainment) as vocal coach/arranger.
